TERMS OF SERVICE
Effective Date: October 15, 2026
Last Updated: October 15, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of taxappeal.scipiolaw.com, its associated applications, dashboards, reports, documents, tools, and services (collectively, the "Platform").
The Platform is operated by Scipio Law LLC, doing business as Scipio Law Tax Appeal ("Scipio"), which is also the law firm that may provide legal services to eligible users.
By accessing or using the Platform, creating an account, submitting property information, purchasing an analysis, or clicking an acceptance box, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
1. Purpose of the Platform
The Platform provides technology-assisted property-tax information, preliminary screening, property analysis, comparable-property analysis, document generation, workflow tools, and related services.
The Platform may help a homeowner evaluate whether a New Jersey property-tax assessment deserves further review.
The Platform does not guarantee that a property qualifies for an appeal or that an appeal will succeed.
2. Preliminary Screening
The Platform may provide a preliminary assessment based on available information, public records, third-party data, automated calculations, comparable-property information, and proprietary scoring methods.
A preliminary screening is provided for informational purposes only.
It is not:
- legal advice;
- an appraisal;
- a tax assessment;
- an official government determination;
- a guarantee that an appeal should be filed; or
- a guarantee of any particular result.
Additional information may materially change any preliminary conclusion.
3. No Attorney-Client Relationship From Platform Use
Use of the Platform does not, by itself, create an attorney-client relationship with Scipio Law LLC or any attorney.
An attorney-client relationship is created only after Scipio Law LLC expressly agrees to represent you, typically through a separate written engagement agreement.
Creating an account, submitting property information, purchasing an analysis, receiving a report, sending a message, or communicating through the Platform does not alone create an attorney-client relationship.
4. $100 Analysis Fee
Users may elect to purchase a deeper property-tax appeal analysis for $100, unless a different price is clearly disclosed before purchase.
The fee is for the analysis service described at the time of purchase.
Payment does not guarantee:
- that an appeal will be filed;
- that your property qualifies for an appeal;
- that a reduction will be obtained;
- that tax savings will result;
- that Scipio Law LLC will accept representation; or
- that any particular comparable property or valuation conclusion will support your position.
The deeper analysis may conclude that pursuing an appeal is not recommended.
5. Refunds
Except where otherwise required by law or expressly stated at the time of purchase, fees are generally non-refundable once the purchased analysis has been substantially performed.
A refund may be provided where:
- the Platform is unable to perform the purchased analysis because of a system failure;
- required property data cannot reasonably be obtained and no meaningful analysis can be produced; or
- Scipio determines, in its discretion, that a refund is appropriate.
A disagreement with the conclusion of an analysis does not by itself entitle a user to a refund.
6. Optional Legal Representation
After receiving an analysis, a user may have the opportunity to request legal representation from Scipio Law LLC.
Legal representation is separate from the Platform analysis.
Scipio Law LLC may accept or decline any potential representation in its discretion and subject to conflicts checks, eligibility requirements, legal deadlines, professional obligations, and other considerations.
Any legal representation will be governed by a separate engagement agreement.
7. Success-Based Attorney Fee
Where permitted by law and expressly agreed to in a separate written attorney engagement agreement, Scipio Law LLC may charge an attorney fee equal to 50% of the client's first-year property-tax savings if the represented matter results in a successful reduction or settlement.
The specific fee arrangement applicable to any legal representation will be disclosed in the written attorney engagement agreement.
The $100 Platform analysis fee alone does not create or substitute for that attorney engagement agreement.
8. Filing Deadlines
Property-tax appeals are subject to strict deadlines.
The Platform does not guarantee that it will identify, calculate, preserve, or satisfy every applicable filing deadline.
Unless Scipio Law LLC has formally accepted representation in writing and specifically assumed responsibility for a filing, you remain responsible for protecting your legal rights and complying with applicable deadlines.
Do not delay obtaining legal advice because you are waiting for a Platform result.
9. Third-Party and Public Data
The Platform may rely on information obtained from:
- county and municipal records;
- tax records;
- property databases;
- real-estate data providers;
- public records;
- mapping services;
- comparable-sales providers; and
- other third-party sources.
Third-party data may be incomplete, inaccurate, delayed, inconsistent, unavailable, or incorrectly associated with a property.
You acknowledge that Scipio does not control all underlying data sources.
10. Automated and AI-Assisted Systems
The Platform may use algorithms, automated workflows, artificial intelligence, scoring systems, and software-generated recommendations.
Automated systems may make errors.
Results should therefore be reviewed in the context of the underlying property information and, where appropriate, by a qualified professional.
The Platform should not be treated as a substitute for individualized legal advice.
11. Comparable Properties
Comparable properties identified by the Platform are selected using available data and internal scoring criteria.
The inclusion of a property as a comparable does not establish that:
- a tax assessor;
- county tax board;
- court;
- appraiser; or
- attorney
will agree that the property is an appropriate comparable.
Likewise, the omission of a property does not establish that the property is legally irrelevant.
12. User Responsibilities
You agree to provide information that is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge.
You are responsible for reviewing property information displayed by the Platform and notifying us if you believe material information is incorrect.
You may not:
- use the Platform unlawfully;
- attempt to circumvent security controls;
- access another user's account;
- interfere with Platform operations;
- scrape or systematically extract Platform data without authorization;
- reverse engineer proprietary components except where legally permitted;
- submit fraudulent information; or
- use the Platform to violate another person's rights.
13. Accounts and Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
You are responsible for activity occurring through your account unless caused by a security failure within our reasonable control.
Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
14. Intellectual Property
The Platform, including its software, designs, workflows, algorithms, scoring methods, branding, text, reports, databases, and other proprietary content, is owned by or licensed to Scipio.
These Terms provide you only with a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Platform for its intended purpose.
No ownership rights are transferred to you.
15. Generated Reports and Documents
Reports or documents generated through the Platform are provided for the user's personal use in evaluating or pursuing a property-tax matter.
Generated documents may require review, completion, modification, execution, filing, service, or supplementation before they are legally effective.
You are responsible for confirming applicable filing requirements unless Scipio Law LLC has agreed in writing to handle them.
16. Service Availability
We may modify, suspend, maintain, update, or discontinue portions of the Platform.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.
Temporary outages may result from:
- maintenance;
- third-party provider failures;
- internet disruptions;
- software defects;
- security incidents;
- government-data interruptions; or
- events outside our reasonable control.
17. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
We disclaim warranties not expressly provided in these Terms, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
- data will always be accurate;
- every relevant comparable will be identified;
- every error will be detected;
- an appeal will be accepted;
- an assessment will be reduced; or
- tax savings will result.
18. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scipio Law LLC and its owners, employees, contractors, affiliates, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from use of the Platform.
To the extent permitted by law, liability arising solely from use of the Platform and unrelated to an attorney-client relationship will not exceed the amount you paid for the specific Platform service giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits obligations that cannot legally be limited, including duties arising from an established attorney-client relationship where applicable.
19. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Scipio Law LLC from claims resulting from your unlawful use of the Platform, violation of these Terms, fraud, or infringement of another person's rights.
This provision does not require a legal client to indemnify Scipio Law LLC for the law firm's own professional negligence or other liability that cannot legally be waived.
20. Attorney Advertising
Information on the Platform may constitute attorney advertising.
Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome.
Descriptions of services, case outcomes, potential savings, or property-tax appeal processes should not be interpreted as guarantees of future results.
21. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information are governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
22. Electronic Communications
By providing your email address or telephone number, you consent to receive transactional communications relating to your account, analysis, payments, reports, or requested services.
Marketing communications may be subject to separate consent requirements.
You may unsubscribe from promotional email where applicable, although you may continue to receive necessary transactional communications.
23. Suspension or Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the Platform where reasonably necessary because of:
- violation of these Terms;
- suspected fraud;
- security concerns;
- unlawful conduct;
- misuse of the Platform; or
- nonpayment.
Termination does not eliminate obligations incurred before termination.
24. Governing Law
Except where another law must apply, these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
25. Venue
To the extent permitted by law and except where different rules apply to a legal-client matter, disputes relating solely to the Platform or these Terms shall be brought in an appropriate state or federal court located in New Jersey.
26. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time.
Updated Terms will be posted with a revised effective date.
Where appropriate, we may require users to affirmatively accept materially revised Terms before continuing to use certain services.
27. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional policies expressly incorporated by reference, constitute the agreement governing ordinary use of the Platform.
A separate attorney engagement agreement, if executed, governs legal representation and controls over these Terms to the extent of any conflict concerning the legal representation.
